Reflection on Sir Ken Robinson’s Views on Education

Dr. Ken Robinson has more than 50 million views of his speech about schools and whether they kill creativity. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can here:

In his book, Creative Schools, Dr. Robinson talks about the aims of education. He writes, “As I see it, the aims of education are to enable students to understand the world around them and the talents within them so that they can become fulfilled individuals and active, compassionate citizens.” Combine this with Richard Louv’s take on the key role of environmental education as a pivotal part of education at all levels, and combine both with the understanding that all students have lots of potential when given the chance to engage in something meaningful that they are interested in.
